Crown Castle Hotel - 1890s to December 13, 2007

Built around 1890 the 20-room Crown Castle Hotel was constructed at the corner of Washington and Hawthorn. 
Early newspaper articles and advertisements are fun to read. Here are excerpts from a few, in chronological order.

Mrs. L. C. Mitchell, of Fredericksburg will arrive at Colonial Beach on the 15th instant to take the management of Crown Castle. Doubtless [it] will be immensely popular under her guidance. Misses Grace and Adalina will accompany her and will add to the charms of social life at the Beach.  -Potomac Progress, Colonial Beach.

Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Studds and Miss Nellie Pierpoint are at "Crown Castle" Colonial Beach, for ten days.

On New Years night a dance was given by Miss Gwendolyn Smith in the big dining room of the Crown Castle Hotel. At an early hour the merry party was in full swing and it was late before good byes were said to the popular hostess.

We notice that Mrs. J.B. Murray is having asbestos shingles put on the Crown Castle Hotel. This certainly does improve the appearance of the Hotel.

Owned by Covington's in 1907.

The building was town down on December 13, 2007 with heavy equipment.
