The Oak Grove Diner is holding their Soft Opening Thursday, July 15, 2026!
The spot that for years was a busy breakfast mainstay as Bowie's Restaurant that later became Bobby K's Roadside Cafe will soon be home to a soul and comfort food eatery.
Proprietress Shay Nichole will be bringing that old-school country diner feel with a whole lot of Chef Soulz flavor.
This will be the sister restaurant to Chef Soulz Gourmet Kitchen (located on North 5th Street in Richmond, Virginia) and will feature some of the soulful favorites you already love like crispy fried fish, chicken wings, loaded macaroni, Rasta pasta, shrimp, chicken, and hearty soul supper plates, plus brand-new down-home diner classics like smothered turkey chops with gravy, lima beans, liver and onions, mashed potatoes, green beans, mac and cheese, cabbage, rice and gravy - comfort food made with love, flavor, and that true country soul.
They are also very open to hearing what you'd like to see them serving so make your requests known!
Here's a video clip of Shay inside the restaurant space giving a tour and more details.The location is just outside the Town limits on Route 3 as if you're heading towards Montross between St. Peter's Episcopal Church Thrift Shop and Quality Collision Center at the corner of Route 3 (Kings Highway) and Bowie Road (Route 644).
They are currently slated to be open for both breakfast and lunch meal times.
