The main beach looking north towards the fishing pier.
Katrina's Reply: Lynn, this is a neat shot of the Colonial Beach shoreline. The shadows from the trees on the sand look very cool.
Bounty Hunter Discovery 1100
Went on a metal detecting trip in Colonial Beach. I'm still learning and getting used to my Discovery 1100 detector, so I didn't really find a whole lot of great stuff. I do have a good start to a bottle cap collection, though!
I did not search in the water, I'll give that a try next time.
Katrina's Reply: The inventor of the metal detector was Alexander Graham Bell who spent his summers here in Colonial Beach at what is now The Bell House Bed & Breakfast Inn.

Always on the lookout for shells, seaglass and now rocks.
I found this pretty little one in the sand.

MaryKate Manning, age 3, found the perfect spot in the world...in the sand...under a shade tree...on the beach... She was visiting her grandparents, Sonny and Myrtle Nelson in Colonial Beach.

The water was so calm and clear. Just a gorgeous day for a visit with family and taking a leisurely stroll on the beach.
