"Who Says you can't go home"?

Way back in the 60's Doc's was the happening place and remains today. One family, the Powells from Front Royal traveled every year to a beach that felt like home.

In the 60's they rented cottages every year. Then they discovered Miss Ellie at Doc's on the beach and returned year after year. A picture of their son, Mike has been uploaded in front of Doc's in 1981..

Their eldest daughter, Debbie had a family and they continued to visit. She had a daughter Kristen, who plays in a popular Richmond Va band called Route 64 with her dad and they are "coming back home" to play at High Tides on July 7th.

Colonial Beach is all about family and on July 7th this family with grandparents in tow, who started the Colonial Beach tradition years ago will be coming back to where it all started.

This beach is an icon for our family and many more.

55 yrs later...

I went there with my parents as a little boy..I can barely remember it. We went down to the beach after dark and there was a trench dug deeply along the edge of the street and beach. I remember some drunks laying in it..having a good ol time. We went back to our room. I just revisited there for the first time since then..I'm surprised how much I recognize still. I loved my visit again after all these years. It's my new vacation destination now!

That was me living it up at Colonial Beach! I'm 35 now and still think fondly of that place and all those sand castles! I remember trying to quickly eat an ice cream cone before it melted, and hearing Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" playing on the radio. Thanks for the memories!!
