There are four distinct beachfront areas on the Potomac River side of Colonial Beach. Each offers different amenities and things to do as you enjoy some time in Town.
North Beach begins at the foot of Colonial Avenue where the American Legion building is as well as the statues and the River Edge Inn motel.
"Colonial Ave to Town Hill"
Downtown Boardwalk Beach is the beachfront that borders the Boardwalk. The Bathhouse restroom building is here as are the Riverboat restaurant and the swings next to it, the Municipal Pier, High Tides, Muse and Drift Restaurants and the original LOVEwork Sculpture
"Wilder St. to Town Pier"
Irving Avenue Beach includes the Beach Terrace and Irving Ave. areas. Here you'll also find a volleyball net, the lovely Riverwalk and the War Memorial Cannon.
"Beach Terrace and Irving Ave."
Castlewood Beach is at the southern end of Irving Ave. This area includes Castlewood Park, the public boat ramp and trailer parking area. It is next to the Lunsford Point marker and the entrance to Dockside and the Colonial Beach Yacht Center
Items prohibited on the beachfront include grills, fires, alcohol, pets, fishing between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
